Aristocrat

The tatting is aristocrat among all laces. Not everyone is able to make it. The Polish Association of Folk Artists has registered only 10 people who actually possess the ability to make tatting. The difficulty lies not only in technology of knitting but also in creating a design, because there is no final design available.

Tatting beauty attracts new entrants into the art. Every year more and more  workshops are being organized. But not everyone makes an effort to perform the tablecloth, because you have to invest a lot of patience and imagination. It is no wonder that mostly earrings, collars and bracelets are made. The effect of the work is fast and it does not require such an effort as by making tablecloths or napkins.

Not surprisingly, the more hours spent over making the tatting , the higher the price of needlework. However, not every potential buyer is aware of the great art of the creator.
The hardest and most time-consuming technique is a method of making the tatting with a shuttle. Braid is very tight, but much more impressive and durable.

It is much easier to make a tatting with needle or crochet. Braid is much looser, thus knitting the napkin is faster. Also, a mixed technique is applied- a part of a  napkin is made with shuttle, another part with crochet or needle.
