Folk designing can be a great complement to many modern interiors. It was discovered that the objects, which were up recently considered to be kitschy and associated solely with street market, properly placed in home space, may enrich it tremendously.

For many people, relishing modernity, things, which have a little to do with folk and village, were a synonym to kitsch. They were rather proud of various souvenirs brought from distant travels, from South America, Africa, or Europe. Actions taken in accordance with the principle of " you scorn your own values in favour of the values of everybody else" has led to a flood of home market with kitschy, pseudo-artistic goods.
However, in the spheres of artists it has been recognised that folk art is not necessarily trashy. It can perfectly coexist with modernity. Even if the folk items have a bit of kitsch, when skillfully set in space, they can become a great addition to interior design. For example, expressive colors of furniture compose with pastel walls.
In Polish homes it is unlikely to meet the interiors completely decorated folksy, in the vast majority the folk items or equipment constitute only accessories. Most importantly, they should not dominate the scenery, but only give the rooms a sophisticated character. In principle, there is no decoration style in which the folk designing would not prove itself.
Very often we are not even aware that small works of folk art can be found in our own houses. These are the grandmother's lace napkins, rugs and tapestries popular once, which currently young people treat as a specific element of fun.

The canon of folk arts includes: pottery from Boleslawiec - brown, yellow and white in a well-known blue dots, and the products of faience and ceramics from the factory in Wloclawek - their products are coming back to grace! They look beautiful in white, minimalist kitchens. Additionally, stripes from Lowicz and Kashubian patterns would look lovely. Rugs, tapestries, runners, and clay pots as well. Our interior needs not to be fully furnished in folk, for the folk pots or vases to function well in it. Do not forget also about plaits, wicker and rattan - made in the corresponding model they may also represent a folk style.
If we put a rug a'la tablecloth to pale, pastel, insipid interior, we can be accused of kitsch. Dominant personality of folk creations must find a counterweight in the other distinctive styles. Folk chairs do not necessarily have to stand by the wooden table, plates with flowers, not necessarily have to be adjoined with garlands of garlic, or painted cabinets. The carpets from Lowicz can give an interesting effect on the floor of the resin than the boards.
